I never know what will inspire me next. I'm always looking for new techniques to try and interesting subjects to paint. Here are a few of my favorites.

French Kiss

Dimensions: 5ft x 3ft gallery wrapped canvas with oil, silver and black ink, 23k gold leaf and prize-winning antique French franc notes

Note: This piece is my tribute to the most glorious city in the world, with a golden kiss on each cheek, and some of my favorite French things written on the Eiffel Tower. Also, few people know that Gustave Eiffel actually made a small apartment for himself at the top of his tower to enjoy the view and entertain friends. If you look closely, you can see the mini spiral staircase that leads up to it! The Eiffel Tower was the tallest structure in the world for 41 years until the Chrysler Building surpassed it.

Into the Light

Dimensions: 5ft x 4ft gallery wrapped canvas with oil and 23k gold leaf

Note: This is a spiritual painting for me, as the beautiful sailboat is about to break out of the shadows of this Earth and enter the light of Heaven. The background, though it looks unworldly, is an actual place: Pipe Organ Rock in Tasmania.

Triple Spinnakers

Dimensions: 5ft x 4ft gallery wrapped canvas with oil, 23k gold leaf and gold ink

Note: The middle sailboat is owned by Larry Ellison and named Sayonara, which is written on the front of the white spinnaker.

The black letters show through the white spinnaker, however, making it look as if the word is written backwards. (A Japanese friend of mine figured that out.)

Feng Shui

Note: According to Feng Shui, the red Carp are keeping the black Carp from doing harm to all those who live in the house in which this painting is hung.

Then Baby Mousekin Threw Back Her Sun Bonnet and Said, "Yes!"

Note: I believe in the power of positive thinking, and painted this piece to encourage myself to move from NYC to LA, but by the time I finished the painting I had fallen in love with an East coast guy (my husband) and never went!

Vase of Lemons

Dimensions: 3ft x 2ft gallery wrapped canvas with oil

Note: I wanted to teach myself how to paint reflections in a crystal vase and this is the result.

Mozart's Birch Trees

Dimensions: 5ft x 3ft gallery wrapped canvas with acrylic, artist gold leaf, silver leaf, gold ink and collaged sheets of music

Note: I imagined this painting while sitting in the balcony of my church and listening to Mozart's beautiful Spatzenmasse, (sparrow mass) nicknamed that because the violins make chirping sounds throughout it. As I listened, I saw a swirl of sparrows landing in the birch trees and musical notes landing on them.

Bésame Mucho

Dimensions: 2ft x 4ft gallery wrapped canvas with acrylic, 23k gold leaf and gold ink

Note: This is an homage to the most popular Spanish love song ever written. It reminds me of the Paris Cafe scene in the movie Casablanca where Ingrid Bergman says to Bogart, "Kiss me Rick. Kiss me as if it were the last!"

Walker

Note: My girlfriend's wonderful dog with Klimt inspired 'carpet'.

Written in the Stars

Dimensions: 2ft x 4ft gallery wrapped canvas with oil, silver leaf, silver ink and diamonds

Note: I've always been charmed by the concept of "Our love is written in the stars". So, when my silver wedding anniversary was in view, I decided to paint a silver moonlight scene with our wedding song 'The Wind Beneath My Wings' musically 'written' across the sky in diamonds!

April

Dimensions: 5ft x 3ft gallery wrapped canvas with acrylic, 23k gold leaf, silver leaf and gold ink.

Note: I once read that a good time to paint a portrait of your daughter is at the age of 12, when the girl is on the verge of becoming a young lady. So I did.
